United Sports Journal

About us

United Sports Journal is for curious people who want to take part in sport without treating every activity as a test of commitment or skill. We look at ways to try, adapt and share play, including what to do when an idea does not work as planned.

A place for trying things

Our subject is recreational sport and play: the first encounter with an unfamiliar activity, the choices that shape an informal game, and the small adjustments that help a group keep playing. We focus on ideas readers can adapt to their own circumstances rather than instructions that assume one perfect way to take part.

Curiosity before expertise

You do not need to be a committed player to read us. We write for people who are curious, unsure, returning after a pause, or simply looking for a different way to spend an afternoon. Our tone is playful, but we do not pretend every suggestion will suit every group.

Room for what fails

We treat a game or activity as something to try, notice and adjust. A format may fall flat; a first attempt may feel awkward. We aim to make those outcomes part of the account, not a reason to claim that one method works for everyone.

What we believe

Play is allowed to be an experiment

Not every attempt has to become a routine. We value curiosity, room to adapt and the freedom to decide that one game simply was not for you.
